A pretty two-bedroom unfurnished cottage in the village setting of Higham overlooking open countryside – available beginning of April. ( Click here for location map.)
The cottage is approached through the front door into a cosy sitting-room. A door leads to the fitted kitchen, which is large enough to have a table and chairs. The kitchen has a fridge and a gas cooker. The back door from the kitchen opens on to a small courtyard off which there is an outhouse which has a freezer and a washing machine. There is a large private rear garden. Stairs go up from the kitchen to a small hallway off which there is a good-sized double bedroom with two fitted cupboards; a single bedroom and a newly-fitted shower room. The shower is a large walk-in electric one. There are new carpets up the stairs and in the hall and new vinyl in the kitchen. The cottage is decorated throughout in neutral colours and has gas-fired central heating and double-glazing. It is extremely cosy. The cottage overlooks open countryside and is within walking distance of Higham railway station (trains to London Bridge, Waterloo, Charing Cross and Cannon Street) and easy access to A2/M2/M25/M20. Ebbsfleet international station is just a 15-minute drive away. There is easy just off-the-road parking. The village is also on a bus route. Higham is where Charles Dickens spent the last 14 years of his life and the cottage is within walking distance to the excellent country house restaurant where he stayed whilst Gad’s Hill in Higham was renovated for him to occupy. There is also an excellent primary school in the village and easy access to good secondary schools and private schools in the area. A good range of local shops are within walking distance, as is the doctor’s surgery, a pharmacy and a thriving post office. A cat or dog would be considered on a pre-agreed basis. Non-smokers.
